Believe it or not, the process of writing is incredibly dull sometimes. Sometimes it is exhilarating and the writer in you comes out and then there are times when you just have to go get ‘inspiration’ something from another person (do not do this). Sometimes you tend to write simply, and sometimes you use long and complicated words to showcase your self-proclaimed intellect. After writing about 5-6 sentences most writers (especially for articles) tend to go into a ‘block’ (it’s actually just us being lazy) and take a break which ranges from a few minutes to a couple of hours, depending on whether you are less lazy or more. Much like myself, actually. I wrote a part of this article and then took a whopping two-week ‘break’ because I was actually stuck and unsure of what to write.

Honestly, writing is more of complaining about writing, than actually writing. This article took me way longer than it honestly should have. So to make sure that you don’t stretch one article over 2 WEEKS, you should try to have two things: a deadline and a proper topic. Firstly, if you have a deadline, you are more likely to push yourself to finish the work and publish it. Secondly, when you have a concrete topic to write about, you know what to look for and write about, what you should research about and have a visible goal. With more abstract topics, you need to look within yourself rather than somewhere online. Say you’re writing about any feeling or something that does not have a definite form, it’s always harder to form an opinion or write about it and thus, it takes more time. It’s much more challenging than writing about some book, movie, event etc. in my opinion.

A lot of people may feel that the more you write in a story or article, the better it is. But that’s not true at all! You can have a few beautiful words or a million mediocre ones. What’s important is quality, not quantity. A short paragraph can sometimes be more beautiful and touch your heart while a big book full of fancy-sounding words may not. Writing is writing. It doesn’t matter how or why you write, sometimes your words may reach someone in a way you never even expected. Whether it’s perceived positively or negatively depends on both the reader and the way it’s written. That’s why words must be used carefully. They can either save or ruin someone. Words are so incredibly powerful and so, you should always think before you speak or write.
And as the old saying goes, the pen is mightier than the sword.

I do not own any of the images above.
